A GREAT PLACE TO WORK!
Medical Center of Lewisville (HCA) spends 100 Million Dollars to expand and renovate the hospital in Historic Downtown Lewisville.
Construction of the new four-story patient tower and power plant is complete. This project will be a part of the entrance to The Historic Downtown Lewisville and when complete will expand the facility from 11 acres to 35 acres. The project began with the acquisition of 51 residential properties south of the current hospital as well as other acquisitions that include the office complex at 250 S. Stemmons, a gas station, a check cashing center, a brake shop, and a retail strip center all located on the access road of I-35.
The expansion and renovation program continues in phases with the four-story tower open in March 2003. The tower, which is being built at the West side of the existing facility on Main Street, is being constructed so three more floors can be added in the future. The first floor will house registration, laboratory, pharmacy and respiratory therapy departments as well as a new kitchen and cafeteria. The second floor will have 14 Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) rooms as well as a 16-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level III Nursery). The third floor will be dedicated to Women's Services with 28 private post-partum rooms, a newborn nursery, and a 10-bed pediatric unit. The fourth floor of the new tower will house a 32-bed medical/surgical unit. When the renovation of the current facility is completed at the end of 2003, the Medical Center will have expanded its bed capacity to 206 beds and all beds will be private. Lewisville is only a portion of the population that the Medical Center of Lewisville provides care for. The service area includes Flower Mound, Highland Village, Lake Dallas, Denton, The Colony, Corinth, Coppell, Argyle, North Carrollton and Little Elm. In 2003 Medical Center of Lewisville estimates that it will employ 855 people.
Mission Possible Reward & Recognition Team
The Mission Possible Reward and Recognition Team (R&R) started off 2007 with a bang! On January 5, the R&R committee delivered 27 chocolate candy grams to employees mentioned by name in the weekly Comments & Concerns bulletin. The weekly candy gram giveaway will continue throughout 2007. Yum!
Employee of the Month
The Reward & Recognition Committee is pleased to announce the return of Employee of the Month. We, along with Doug Welch and our entire leadership team, would like to congratulate our first two Employee of the Month award winners. Look for their stories on page 7.
- Employee of the Month for January 2007: Ben Zamora
- Employee of the Month for February 2007: Karen Kelly
To nominate an individual for the award, please respond to the nomination email you will receive each month in MEDITECH or print and return the nomination form to Gina Harrisons mailbox in the Nursing Supervisors Office on the 4th floor. In an effort to keep anonymity and avoid a popularity contest, names are omitted from the nomination letters before the R&R committee members read and discuss all nominees. Award winners will be selected based on criteria taken from the employee Stands For statements. Nominees must have been employed here at least six months and be an exceptional and committed employee.

Since the unveiling in November 2006, treasure chests have been well
received in 24 departments hospital wide. The R&R committee is pleased

Ben Zamora from the Surgical Unit is not far behind with four certificates received. Treasure chest certificates are redeemed as an immediate reward for any employee recognized by a peer for going above and beyond. Congratulations Paul and Ben! Both got to select a prize valued between $25-$50.
